Bangkok Travelogue - Part 1

It was supposed to be Misibis Bay weekend get-away with 3 of my girl friends, but after considering the pricey rates despite the special off season rates we were offered, a 3-day 2-nights stay in a resort that is just off the shores of Legazpi turned into a long weekend trip to Bangkok, Thailand.

After a couple of days stressing whether to go or not to go, since the news of Bangkok flood was widespread, then a threat of a typhoon in the Philippines, just being in the airport, knowing that the flight hasn’t been cancelled was such a relief already.

Friday.1am. Bangkok, Thailand. Landed safely, thanks to Cebu Pacific. Had trouble finding our hotel transfer driver, but eventually found him. First sign of trouble was when we realized that our driver didn’t speak a word of English. Once outside we were greeted by a terrible thunderstorm. Great!

While traversing the streets of Bangkok en route to our hotel, we felt right at home, as Bangkok reminded us of Manila. No signs of flood as yet (thank God!). The only tell-tale signs that Bangkok was under flood threat was the amount of sandbags seen outside almost all of the establishments we passed by. 45 minutes later, we found ourselves being deposited at Amari Watergate Hotel. I can’t do justice to the hotel with my words so let me show you pictures instead.

Amari Watergate Hotel

Loved the huge lobby and all the modern floral arrangements!

Our deluxe room with 2 single beds, and a panoramic view of the city

to be continued……..
